Often artists need the right timing or inspiration to paint what has captured their imagination. This is what happened for Linda when she was drawn back to these buildings, beckoned by the golden light of the sun setting, warming the bricks and the warm welcoming glow. Despite the vision of the piece being clearly envisaged in Linda’s mind this set of buildings became extremely challenging to paint – to accurately represent the scale and height of the chimney, the distortion required with the emphasis from the street, people for scale, a gorgeous blue van called Milo for the story, and a flock of Ibis all combined to give this piece its complexity and visual style.
