Vulnerable yet timeless describes these lone pieces of architecture. How often do we drive past chimneys in the middle of a ploughed field and wonder who lived there, what did the house look like and what happened to it? The chimneys the artist saw initially were brick ones depicted in the foreground, alone and lost… flanked by an old corrugated iron shearing shed. The contrast in the piece is the striking feature, with the more modern additions to the scene, the paddock silos, in their various shapes and sizes form a background orchestra for the little village of sentinels. Company for each other in their bare nakedness, on show for all the world to see.
