Joel Redman
Joel’s impressive illustrations draw you in as the beholder eye works through their intricate and repetitive detail. As a child, Joel was fascinated by the beauty of bluestone buildings and cobblestone laneways at his childhood home of Collingwood. His family owned and operated a petrol station in the inner city suburb of Melbourne, where he became fascinated the juxtaposition of symmetry and irregularity of cobblestone laneways and bluestone walls that surrounded his father’s workplace.
His fascination was closely followed by sketching and drawing as he honed his skills and started sketching and illustrating exotic animals and pets. This passion for drawing continued into adulthood where he continues to build a body of work based on his early talent for art and repetitive shapes.
