Railway Shed, Ballarat | Limited Edition
This abandoned railway shed in Ballarat displays all the clues that at one point in time indicates it was a busy railway port, a small but well-used area that has since been brutally weathered by the extreme conditions in Ballarat.
The shipping containers provide the clue that this area was once a hive of activity in the early 1900s. The built up rust and weathering on the railway tracks also provides us a window into the busy cargo port, that it once was in this busy town.
The inspiration behind my ‘Abandoned Places’ series is epitomised in this image. The little workers cottage behind the bluestone building was once used as a living quarters at the railway station before it was demolished. A slice of Ballarat history gone forever...
